Why do martial arts uniform (gi) jackets have inside ties?
Earlier, the martial arts uniform (gi) jacket did not have any ties on the inside, which sometimes made the lapels of the jackets to come out awkwardly or ride up uncomfortably from the belt, while performing complex martial arts movements. To overcome this, inside ties were introduced so that the jackets remained in place. The inside ties were a suitable value enhancement feature; however, depending upon the martial art practiced, the gi jacket may be with or without inside ties.
Generally, martial arts uniform (gi) jackets with inside ties are used in striking martial arts like Karate or Taekwondo, while martial arts uniform (gi) jackets without inside ties are normally used for grappling martial arts like BJJ, Jiu-Jitsu or Judo. Pacific Sports offers both varieties as high-quality martial arts (gi) jackets with and without inside ties, so that you can find a perfect jacket whether you practice Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, or BJJ.
